Description
Your Role
You are a technically strong, medically trained individual with a health informatics background who knows your way around clinical and health record data. Your primary responsibility is to own and be responsible for interpreting and analyzing raw data from hospital systems and clinical workflows, in order to develop meaningful Dandelion data models that accurately represent a patient’s healthcare journey. You will also ensure that the highest standards of patient privacy protections are met in our products, by identifying and mapping PHI/PII in clinical data so that the data can be successfully de-identified.
You are not afraid to dig into massive, confusing, disorganized new datasets and get them under control. You are excited to learn new environments, languages, and skills. This is a small, early stage company with enormous ambitions and everyone pitches in to do everything.
Your day-to-day priorities will include utilizing data analysis tools to explore clinical data within the health system environment. This will include the following:
Querying complex source systems in a range of health data sources (e.g., EMRs, ECG data, DICOM data) to identify and map raw data tables and their contents, including PHI and PII elements that need to be de-identified in order to create high-quality datasets for training AI algorithms. You pay attention to detail, but also know how to keep the big picture in mind.
Collaborating with health system partners to interpret data tables and definitions, to help Dandelion deliver on data requests with accountability for timely and high-quality delivery
Developing Dandelion data models by reconciling different healthcare system’s datasets and harmonizing data elements to reflect clinical concepts.
Summarizing the complexity of Dandelion and health system data discovery, data structures and operations into clear explanations and documentation for internal and external audiences.
Supporting the design, testing, validation, analysis, and merging of multimodal data structures from a variety of source systems
Supporting all phases of SQL/analytical programming, data management, quality control, and reporting on our informatics approach
Providing insight and documentation to deliver high-quality and HIPAA-compliant data products on time to customers
Create summarized findings and recommendations on Dandelion’s informatics approach that are clearly presented and adapted for a range of audiences that have a varying range of technical and clinical experience
Ensure accuracy, data integrity, and validity of data and analysis in all work.

Experience with extracting, curating, and analyzing data created within the HIT and healthcare delivery ecosystem (e.g., EHR, claims, registry); this may include knowledge of the roles of data exchange and content standards (e.g., FHIR, CDA, CQL) and clinical terminology standards (e.g., ICD, CPT, LOINC, SNOMED-CT, NDC, RxNorm)
Experience with Epic and/or Cerner systems a huge plus
Awareness and understanding of data privacy, anonymization, data protection, security, data ethics and how to address these in data analyses;
