The NorthNet Library System is one of the nine cooperatives in California. It has 41 member library jurisdictions, including county library systems, public libraries, and a law library. The region covers 57,838 square miles in the northern part of the state from the Pacific Coast to the Nevada border and from Marin County and the Sacramento Area to the Oregon border.
NLS has no staff, rather, a contract exists with the Pacific Library Partnership (PLP) to act as the administrator for the NorthNet Library System (NLS), performing oversight of system operations, state reporting, and financial compliance and oversight, under general direction of the NorthNet (NLS) Executive Committee and Administrative Council. The NLS System Coordinator will work closely with PLP in performing the System Coordinator duties.
There are four major categories of responsibilities, including:
Support all systems within NorthNet region, including the NLS Executive Committee, NLS Administrative Council, North Bay Cooperative Library System (NBCLS), North State Cooperative Library System (NSCLS), and Mountain Valley Library System (MVLS), through meetings, communication, and other required support.
Support the system through various communication channels.
Work with PLP fiscal and administrative staff on all operations supporting NLS.
Support California Library Services Act (CLSA) activities.
Requirements
The candidate will live within the NorthNet Library System service area, and be capable of traveling to libraries at least twice a year for in-person meetings.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with public libraries and services provided by libraries.
The candidate will have experience in coordinating meetings, such as developing agendas, minute taking, and use of Zoom. The candidate will be familiar with the Brown Act.
The candidate may be familiar with the California Library Services Act (CLSA).
The candidate will have excellent communication skills, both in writing and orally, and be comfortable with email, writing memos, and communicating with various library directors and stakeholders.
The candidate may have experience in working with and advocating for a wide variety of forward-looking libraries.
