Creator Accountability Network (CAN) is a growing nonprofit organization, dedicated to making communities safer and more ethically accountable. Driven by a limited number of part-time staff and a diverse community of dedicated volunteers, it has created a training and credentialing program for content creators and provides a robust system of mediation for the communities surrounding these creators to use in the case of problematic behavior. With over 50 content creators of various kinds enrolled in our credentialing program, and many more exciting connections on the horizon, CAN is positioning itself to make a real change in how communities create and uphold their own ethical standards. In order to leverage this position, CAN is seeking a Chief Executive Officer as its first full time position to manage its growth.
Role Description:
Create and implement a strategic growth plan for Creator Accountability Network with particular focus on fundraising, leadership development, and outreach, in alignment with the organization’s mission statement and under the direction of the Board of Directors. The CEO will be a collaborative leader with the proven ability to elevate an operation from foundation into growth. This person will create repeatable planning and communication processes, modeling effective organizational leadership and supporting the currently part-time Executive Director in adopting and managing these systems.
Responsibilities:
Providing leadership in the collaborative development of a growth strategy. Such a growth strategy will include: development, financial, staffing, and operations planning, and any other areas needed to support our highly successful and unique programs.
Establishing organizational priorities and measurable goals, while supporting and directing the ED to strengthen decision-making frameworks and performance management systems.
Mentoring and providing oversight for the current ED, including providing feedback and insight into nonprofit management competencies while enabling them to leverage their exceptional external engagement skills.
Building, with the support of the ED, the existing internal structure to strengthen and codify financial operations, budgeting frameworks and operational management.
Establishing fundraising programs focused on achieving the aims of the mission statement. Strategies for this may include creator outreach, individual donations, community organizations, and government partnerships.
Serving as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, providing quantifiable updates during board meetings on the activities of organization, including advice for consideration, and translating board intentions and priorities into impactful management.
Developing and strengthening, in partnership with the Executive Director, the organization’s strategic alliances and relationships with key donors and partners.
Performing specific operational and programmatic tasks directly as needed in a growing, early-stage organization.
Anticipated Qualities:
Minimum 10 years of experience in any nonprofit, leadership, management, or operations roles.
Strong background in mentoring or developing senior leaders, whether in professional, volunteer, or community contexts.
Experience in fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, or other nonprofit development work.
Growth oriented leader with experience in building systems from the ground up.
Demonstrated interest in community safety work, whether through employment or dedicated volunteer work (e.g., victim advocacy, counseling, mediation, investigation, restorative justice, or related fields).
A collaborative leadership style that values partnership, relationship building and shared decision making, as indicated through strong professional or volunteer management experience.
Proven track record of strategic thinking and strong leadership, including projects or leadership roles undertaken outside of formal employment.
Strong commitment to accountability, ethics, and community-driven safety models.
Comfortable working in a remote, lean organizational environment with significant autonomy.

Location
CAN is a fully remote organization, and this is a fully remote position. The organization is legally headquartered in Pennsylvania, with key staff located in Southern California.
Salary & Benefits
This position is funded for a minimum of one year by a dedicated grant with a total budget of $175,000 annually, with annual renewal likely. Compensation includes a salary of $140,000, up to $15,000 qualified annual reimbursement for health insurance marketplace premiums, and unlimited paid time off.
