Description

The J. Paul Getty Trust (“Getty”) seeks a seasoned and collaborative facilities professional to serve as Head of Sustainability.

The Head of Sustainability is a newly created leadership role and will work as a visionary leader and organizational strategist to help Getty by providing thoughtful leadership, creativity, and an experienced perspective on matters related to sustainability and resilience. The Head of Sustainability will work in close partnership with the four constituent programs and will work to develop and execute broad-based Getty-wide strategic sustainability initiatives and will bring subject matter expertise on sustainability to support the institution not only using resources responsibly but preserving cultural property. This position provides an opportunity to work with leaders and colleagues institution-wide to synthesize environmental information and partner on sustainable and resilience initiatives.  For a full description of the role, please see here.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative and creative leader who demonstrates experience leading sustainably corporate and/or education programs with a strong knowledge of resilience programs; a consensus builder with the ability to inspire confidence and to motivate and persuade diverse groups to work together collectively, in order to meet common objectives; have knowledge of greenhouse emission and reporting software and experience with presentation to internal and external stakeholders; committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace; demonstrated experience in budget planning and prioritization of projects, programs, and activities, using sound judgment while meeting organizational requirements; and possessed of results-orientation skills and a commitment to measuring program performance.

In addition, this position requires a Bachelor’s degree in related field. A Master’s degree and professional certification highly preferred, as is a minimum of 10 years of experience implementing environmental or sustainability programs, resource management, environmental initiatives, or equivalent in a complex organization – higher education experience preferred.
