Starting salary up to $49.70/hour ($103,729/year), a cash allowance of $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!*
Reporting to the Healthcare Privacy and Security Officer, this position will oversee and participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive and coordinated records management program across all divisions of the Department of Health Services (DHS). The incumbent will act as a consultant and resource for the department regarding record maintenance; and assist in developing policies, procedures, and desk manuals to organize, manage, and protect client information and other personally identifiable information of DHS clients in paper and electronic form.
This position supervises Medical Records staff and will serve as a resource to DHS management and staff regarding health information management laws, regulations, and standards. The incumbent will initially supervise one Medical Records Technician; however, this position is anticipated to supervise up to six staff as the program is evaluated and a needs-analysis is completed.
Other typical duties include:
- Directing and assisting in the sharing and disclosure of medical records at the request of a client, another healthcare provider, or subpoena served on the County
- Making recommendations to senior management on issues of records management compliance
- Serving on committees established to implement record keeping systems and ensure the privacy and security of healthcare information

Requirements
The ideal candidate will be experienced in the above areas of healthcare records management and will possess:
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by the Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
- Familiarity with laws and regulations regarding health records management including record retention/destruction laws, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and State privacy laws
- Prior experience with Electronic Health Records Management
- Experience writing policy, procedure, and desk manuals
- Prior supervisory and/or management experience
- Strong leadership and motivational skills with the demonstrated ability to lead and influence effectively across multiple divisions
- Excellent interpersonal skills to navigate change management across the department
