Description
Full-Time Associate Optometrist – 15 Minutes from Downtown San Diego
Join a compassionate, patient-centered optometry team where you can practice to the full scope of your license and grow your career—just minutes from the beach.
About the Practice
Our clinics, located in National City and Imperial Beach, offer a rare opportunity to work in a community-centered, doctor-led environment that blends the best of medical and refractive optometry. We are just 15 minutes from downtown San Diego and 5 minutes from the ocean—perfect for a young professional or a doctor looking for a balanced lifestyle in one of the country’s most beautiful regions.
We provide comprehensive care with advanced technology, including OCT, OPTOS, Topography, iCare, Visual Field, and meibomian gland imaging, along with dry eye treatments, myopia control, specialty contact lenses, and co-management with ophthalmology. Each clinic has a single exam lane, a cross-trained support team, and a strong emphasis on both efficiency and patient experience.
Our environment is collaborative and uplifting—we celebrate teamwork, growth, and personal connection with our patients. Staff members are bilingual (English/Spanish), friendly, and deeply committed to maintaining the welcoming culture our patients love.
About the Role
We are seeking a Full-Time Associate Optometrist who values quality care and enjoys connecting with patients in a relaxed yet professional setting.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM, with a one-hour lunch. We’re transitioning to every other Saturday (9 AM–2:30 PM) to support work-life balance.
Compensation: $120,000/year base salary, with production-based pay available after the first year.
Benefits: Credentialing and malpractice insurance covered; flexible scheduling and non-paid time off.
Start Date: January 2026
Partnership Path: Optional future partnership or expanded leadership role available for those interested.
Our patient flow is steady and well-organized: Medi-Cal patients are scheduled every 15 minutes, with a maximum of 3 per hour (typically ~18 per day on a full schedule). You’ll have the opportunity to see a mix of medical and refractive cases while being supported by a well-trained team who values patient care and smooth clinic operations.
Clinical Philosophy & Growth
We believe in protocol-based care as a reliable foundation—but with full clinical autonomy when it comes to patient decision-making. You’ll be encouraged to bring your own interests and expertise, whether that’s dry eye therapy, myopia control, or specialty lens fitting.
We welcome both seasoned ODs and new graduates seeking mentorship and a strong foundation for independent practice. Our founder believes that optometrists should have the freedom to provide truly patient-first care without interference from corporate or insurance-driven policies—a philosophy that defines our practice culture.
Why You’ll Love It Here
Community Connection: Our patients are kind, grateful, and down-to-earth. They value the relationships they build with our doctors and staff.
Team Culture: We believe in verbal recognition, celebrating wins, and creating an atmosphere of respect and cooperation.
Lifestyle Balance: Enjoy consistent hours, flexible scheduling, and your weekends near the beach or downtown San Diego.
Supportive Growth: Whether you want mentorship, autonomy, or both, you’ll have the structure and encouragement to practice the way you were trained to.
Who Thrives Here
You’ll fit right in if you are:
Detail-oriented, empathetic, adaptable, and friendly.
Someone who values teamwork and doesn’t hesitate to help with any task that improves patient care.
Passionate about providing meaningful, personalized care—not just volume-based service.
Looking for a stable, growth-oriented role in a positive, collaborative practice.
