Description

Full time OD position available immediately in a Multi-Location Multi-Specialty Ophthalmology Practice in the San Fernando Valley. Specializing in Lasik, PRK, ICL, Crosslinking, Cataract and Premium IOL's, Glaucoma and Dry Eyes. The optometrist will see a variety of patients, Private Pay / HMO / PPO and Vision plans and will work closely with ophthalmologists for patient work-up for pre and post-operative care.

Schedule is Monday through Friday during office hours with two half days on a Saturday a month for Lasik Consultations.

Requirements

Job Duties & Responsibilities

·        Examines eyes, using observation, equipment to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma

·        Prescribes, supplies, fits and adjusts eyeglasses, contact lenses

·        Analyzes test results

·        Prescribes medications to treat eye diseases within the scope of the optometrist license

·        Comfortable working with patients of all ages and backgrounds

·        Notifies the on-duty Ophthalmologist of any uncommon ophthalmic/systemic conditions

·        Educates and counsels patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors

·        One Saturday a month required

·        Follows applicable policies and procedures and takes precautions to establish a safe work environment

·        Maintains strict patient protocols in accordance with practice policies/ HIPAA requirements

·        Maintains a high level of professionalism with patients and works to establish a positive rapport

·        Performs other duties as assigned
