Description
OverviewAssists the Head Golf Professional in managing all Golf Operations to ensure smooth operation of all systems and services required to meet Company standards to provide outstanding member service and financial profitability. Areas of responsibility includes, Golf Operations, Valet, Lessons, and Tournaments. Builds and manages teams effectively.
Experience Required
2. Three or more years of experience as a Golf Pro in similar environment. Strong knowledge of Golf Operations and working knowledge of general course maintenance practices. Must be member of the PGA of America and maintain
active membership in appropriate professional organizations.
3. Possess solid knowledge of Golf Operations management, guest relations and etiquette. Ability and experience in successfully leading and coordinating staff in a high volume, time sensitive environment. Requires ability to lead others in the
department by mentoring and providing training that results in staff that meets/exceeds guest expectations and provides a high level of guest satisfaction. Ability to design, develop, and implement new concepts in keeping with current trends.
4. Ability to develop and maintain effective operating and control processes designed to attain maximum operating efficiency while ensuring adherence to established operating criteria.
5. Completes required training as scheduled.
6. Ability to monitor labor as required by anticipating business activity while ensuring positions are staffed when and as needed and labor cost objectives are met
7. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English to understand instructions, safety rules, and communicate with guests. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, Team Members, members/guests and the general public. Bilingual Spanish a plus.
8. Requires ability to serve needs of members/guests through verbal face-to-face interactions. Contacts sometimes contain confidential/sensitive information so requires ability to use discretion. Must demonstrate positive attitude and
professional demeanor. Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction.
9. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Requires attention to detail. Must be able to solve problems and remain calm and alert if dealing with difficult
guest, during busy activity periods or in an emergency situation.
10. Able to use mathematics to solve problems, prepare budgets, conduct analyses and prepare reports
11. Requires working knowledge of MS Office applications and ability to learn and use telephone and computer systems used at the Club. Requires knowledge and ability to complete reports, financial forecasts and budgets.
12. Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team. 13. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Team Members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Club. Work schedules will include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.
14. Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor.
Essential Responsibilities
2. Participates in the hiring process by interviewing potential Team Members and recommending those that best meet staffing needs. Participates in management training. Follows all Human Resources policies. Ensures Team Members receive any required training or attends mandatory meetings. Trains, develops, empowers, coaches and counsels, conducts performance and salary reviews, resolves problems, and communicates effectively. Participates in disciplinary
actions as appropriate. Monitors day-to-day golf operations to ensure property is maintained to exceed guest expectations and meet or exceed property standards. Takes corrective action as needed. Prepares schedules to ensure
staffing levels are optimal.
3. Provides quality golf instruction/coaching to members to develop participants' performance and maximize progress and enjoyment in the game. Builds base of clients to build profitability of instruction programs.
4. Participates in custom fitting of golf equipment and performs basic club repairs to generate maximum member satisfaction. Provides specialized advice using product knowledge. Manages bag storage facility.
5. Implements and manages the tournament program. Coordinates with tournament directors to ensure a memorable, well run experience that meets or exceeds customer expectations. 1
6. Takes action to control expenses and maximize profitability within assigned areas. Assists the Director with budgeting, forecasting, inventory control, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement. Utilizes approved computer
programs to analyze reports. Makes recommendations, decisions and takes action based on that information to maximize profitability. Ensures quality while minimizing waste or loss of supplies to maintain profitability.
7. Maximizes profitability by optimizing golf prices and service selection. Assists in implementing new golf services, pricing, marketing strategies and programs.
8. Ensures members and guests receive outstanding, consistent, exceptional service by circulating through each area of responsibility. Seeks opportunities to improve satisfaction and immediately handles any guest concerns or complaints.
9. Ensures all golf areas are clean and properly set up. Maintains sufficient inventory of supplies and equipment and orders as needed. Participates in weekly/monthly inventories. Ensures facilities and equipment are properly maintained.
10. Monitors SOPs to ensure consistent exceptional service is provided. Assists in developing, implementing and updating policies and procedures. Participates in weekly meeting with Management Team to ensure weekly goals, challenges, and
service standards are met.
11. Ensures department follows all standard regulations and guidelines.
12. Follows all safety policies and procedures. Acts on reports of potential safety issues or whenever observed and takes immediate action to resolve in emergency situations. OSHA laws require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety. Team Members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE if applicable. The Club provides the required PPE. Team Member has responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE or
equipment that does not fit properly to their Manager. Maintains strict compliance with Club's Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) program and familiarizes self with current MSDS.
13. Reporting to work as scheduled (on time and on regular basis) is an essential function of the job.
